Sumtimes, my second independent project, is a mathematical puzzle game in which users attempt to keep their status within certain boundaries whilst navigating a moving gameboard (it’s funner than it sounds).
With the intention of developing an MVP-style mobile game, I consulted with several contacts in the gaming industry who confirmed that, rather unsurprisingly, mathematics is an underserved genre. Based on this, I worked closely with a talented programmer to conceive a game that would challenge users in an enjoyable way.
Aiming the game at 15-25 year olds, I designed an interface with a mature feel which echoes the game’s minimalist approach. Using Adobe After Effects, I built several subtle but engaging animations which add both meaning and flare to the gameplay.
I plan to develop a second generation of the game designed for the education sector.
